The Aston Martin DB2 is undeniably one of the most iconic, and one of the first, Aston Martins. It was built between 1950 and 1953, a relatively short period of time compared to the legacy it set. Correspondingly, the production quantity of the DB2 remained low. Reportedly, only 411 units of the DB2 were built in total: 102 convertibles and 309 closed coupés. Nowadays, the DB2 serves as an eternal classic, a ultimate classic for many collectors.

Prior to the unveiling of the DB2, David Brown eagerly experimented with the straight-six engine that would power his DB2. Three prototypes, each with a different engine configuration, competed against each other on the racetrack. The best of the test would have the honour of residing under the elegant hood of this Aston Martin named after David Brown. The first DB1, its predecessor, was equipped with a four-cylinder engine with a displacement of 2.0 litres, as its nickname suggests: 2-Litre. There was much debate about using that 2.0 litre engine. Ultimately, the six-cylinder engine from Lagonda, which was also under Brown's control by then, had the pleasure of propelling the DB2. It generates a pleasant 105 horsepower.

British designer Frank Feeley is the mastermind behind the design of this ultimate classic. He created an elegant sports car that followed the latest trends of the time while also reflecting British class. The DB2 represented a significant leap towards the future compared to its predecessor, the DB1. The DB2 became a series on its own and was produced in larger quantities - only 15 DB1’s were ever made - despite being hand-built. Moreover, the DB2 was considerably faster thanks to the additional 35 horsepower it produced.

In 1953, the Aston Martin DB2 was succeeded by the Aston Martin DB2/4, another true icon that brought the famous Aston Martin grille. DB2 models are very rare, nearly unexisting, and it is unknown how many of them are still roadworthy. A well-maintained DB2 is truly unique, buying one is an opportunity one can only get once in a lifetime.
